Robert (Bob or Bobby) R. Johnson, Jr., 71 passed peacefully at home with family on December 15, 2024. Bob was born in Terre Haute on September 12, 1953, son of Robert and Ilene Johnson. He had one sister. Bob married his soulmate, Vova (Zinn) on July 20, 1974.
A skilled welder by trade, his career included time at Kennedy Tank and Baker Boiler and Welding before joining and retiring from Eli Lilly, where he dedicated over 30 years before retiring. After a fulfilling career at Lilly, Bob stayed active by working at Crown Equipment for a few years before his final retirement in 2019.
A passionate golfer, Bob spent most of his days at the golf course, perfecting his golf swing on his golf simulator or helping others improve their game. He was always willing to coach or mentor anyone eager to learn. As much as he loved golf that didn't compare to how much he loved his family and friends. Bob would spend countless hours helping others and was a fierce loyalist and protector. His favorite role in life was being PawPaw. To his grandchildren, he was a hero - the man who could fix anything and would be there in a flash if they needed or wanted for anything.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 50 years; three amazing daughters Christa (Beau) of Pendleton, Indiana; Amanda (Stevie) of Anchorage, Alaska; and Melissa (Tyler) of McCordsville, Indiana and his pride and joy his grandchildren Mickala, Keira, Easton and Emery.
A celebration of life will be held at Clover Meadows Golf Course on Sunday, December 22nd from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
