Marian was born September 29, 1931, along with her twin sister Marilyn, in New Trenton, Indiana to Marie and Arthur F. Jonas. Her early childhood was spent in Cedar Grove and Brookville, Indiana. Her family moved to the east side of Indianapolis when she was 12 years old. She graduated from Arsenal Technical high school then worked for Polk Milk in downtown Indianapolis until she met her husband, Robet Hyten.
Marian owned and operated the Y-Palace restaurant that was in Bainbridge, IN for 20+ years alongside her husband until she retired. Marian always like to say, “You’ve got to laugh and tease to have fun in life” and “It is what it is”. She always told everyone to “behave” especially the grandkids and when they didn’t, they got the wooden spoon! If the grandkids were being bad, she would say “Alright Donald” or “dang it Robert”.
Marian loved her family and said they were her greatest accomplishment. Her greatest joy was taking care of her grandchildren that she loved beyond measure. All the grandkids loved spending time at grandma’s house. They have lots of wonderful memories that they will treasure.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband Robert, her parents, and her three sisters, Marilyn McCallie, Joan and Jean Jonas.
She is survived by her three children: Mike (Tina) Hyten of Coatesville, Kim Hyten of Fillmore, and Delana (Randy) Conkright of Waveland. Her grandchildren: J.T. Chadd, Brianna Hyten (Jon Elliot), Alex (Colton) Maynor, Stone (Erynn) Hyten, Chandler Hyten, Nicholas Hyten, Joe (Lexi) Conkright, Jessica (Blake) Massing, & Julie (Alex) Stirek. Eleven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her brother Arthur (Marjorie) Jonas.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Brick Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until time of services.
