Lawrence Andrew Dickey II

Lawrence “Andy” Dickey II, 53, of Greencastle, passed away Monday, September 7, 2020 at his residence. Andy was born on July 3, 1967 to loving parents, Larry (Randee) Dickey, and Betty (Rex) Eaton, in Greencastle. After graduating from Greencastle High School, Andy attended Depauw University and Indiana State University. Andy had two sisters Janet (Brad) Mellinger and Susan (Todd) Hall.

Andy married his sweetheart, Courtney Sawyer, on November 25, 1989. They were married for 30 wonderful years, and had four beautiful daughters, Hannah (Zach) Miller, Emily Katharine Dickey, Meghan (Seth) Miller, and a baby, Lydia Claire Dickey, who went to heaven on May 25, 2005. He also had two precious granddaughters, Mia and Stormi Miller, who were the apple of their Papaw’s eye.

Throughout Andy’s life he had an unwavering faith in God. He let his light shine to those around him, and worked so hard to be the kind of man that God would have him to be. He was a member of the Belleville church of Christ and loved his brothers and sisters there.

Andy’s greatest joy on this earth was spending time with his family and friends, loving, laughing, talking, mentoring, crying and making jokes together. His greatest desire was to be a loving son, brother, husband, father, Papaw, uncle, cousin and friend.

Andy was a very hard worker, and those who knew him, also knew he was never idle. He loved to restore antique trucks and tractors, loved living on the family farm, tinkering in his shop, planting a huge garden to give away to others, fishing in the pond, Gator rides with his dog Sammy, long, slow country motorcycle rides, sitting in the porch swing watching sunsets with Courtney,building a wonderful life for his daughters, going to see the cows with Mia, and snuggling with Stormi.

Besides immediate family, Andy is survived by his mother-in-law, Dottie Sawyer, brother-in-laws Tony (Louise) Sawyer, Andy (Lynn) Sawyer, and Terry Sawyer. Nieces and Nephews David, Madi, Lexi, Brad, Shana, Emma, Taylor, Levi, Chelsea, Ryan, Colby, Katie, Nick, Laura, Nick, Ella, Justin, Mikayla, Hailey, Andrew and Graham.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life are being planned for this Saturday, September 19th on the Dickey farm. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a Celebration of Life immediately following from 12-3:00 p.m.
