Obituary of Larry R. Fisher
Larry R. Fisher, 65, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, formerly of Greencastle, IN, passed away peacefully at his home on September 11, 2012. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on December 6, 1946. Larry graduated from Greencastle High School in 1964. He graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. in English and from Indiana State University with a degree in accounting. Larry worked for the Veterans Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. As a young boy Larry was active in 4-H and in the Boy Scouts of America. Devoted to his country, Larry was a four-year U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Headquarters Co. in Vietnam and in Germany. Larry was a life-time member of the United Methodist Church at Putnamville, IN, where he participated in many church functions including treasurer, adult Sunday School teacher, and choir member. He loved singing with the Putnamville Quartet. Larry has written and recorded many songs on his guitar and keyboard. Throughout his life, Larry was a prolific writer of poetry and short stories. Larry loved the outdoors, especially the West, where as a young man, he worked on several large ranches. For the last several years, Larry chose to make the Southwest his home. He will be remembered for his zest for life, sense of humor, selflessness, and kindness to others. Larry leaves to forever cherish his memory, his mother, Corena (Rena) Hatcher Webster of Plainfield, IN; his sisters, Linda Carney of Greenwood, IN, and Gayle (Craig) Halleck of Plainfield; a niece, Rachelle (Cary) Morris and their son, Evan of Greenwood; nephews Scott Nichols of Richwood, Texas, Brandon Halleck and his son Dylan of Terre Haute, Bradley Halleck of Terre Haute, and Bryan Halleck of Plainfield; many cousins and friends. Larry was predeceased by his step-father William Webster; father, Thomas Fisher; maternal grandparents, George and Lona Hatcher; brother-in-law, Richard (Al) Carney, and aunt Cova and her husband Walter Simpson.
