Kimberly Ann (Thompson) Thibodeau, 51, of Reelsville Indiana passed away on the 31st of August 2021 in her home surrounded by her family and friends. Kimberly succumbed after a courageous 14-month bout with breast cancer.
Kimberly was the only daughter of Jim (James) Thompson and Ruth (Hinote) McLean; she was born on August 18th, 1970 in Charlotte, NC. She attended Reelsville Elementary and South Putnam Jr./Sr. High School. She graduated from high school in May of 1988 and attended Indiana State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology in May of 1992. She went on to earn a Master’s of Science in Criminology from ISU in December of 1993.
During high school, she worked summers for Woods Produce of Reelsville IN, and during college, she worked summers at the Indiana State Farm. From 1991 to 1993 she served under Putnam County Sheriff Richard Lyon as a Reserve Deputy. After graduating from college, she started her career as an administrative assistant in the Putnam County Public Defender’s Office. In October of 1994, Kimberly became a probation officer with the Montgomery County Probation Department. On September 6th of 1999, she transitioned as a probation officer with the Putnam County Adult Probation Department and was employed with the county until the time of her death.
Kimberly is survived by; her grandmother Virginia Thompson of Brazil IN, her father Jim and his wife Cheryl Thompson of Brazil Indiana, her mother Ruth and her husband Jim (James) McLean of Brazil, her high school sweetheart and husband since September 12th, 1992, Patrick Thibodeau, their son Johnathan Thibodeau - a law student at Northern Illinois University, their daughter Addy Thibodeau - a student at South Putnam Middle School, her aunt and uncle Joetta and Tom Milligan and their two daughters Melinda Nochez and Jenny McGinnis. Kimberly was proceeded in death by her Grandfather Lyle Thompson of Cataract Falls, IN, and her Grandparents Hubert and Mildred Hinote of Reelsville, IN.
Kimberly was a devoted mother and wife. She was sweet, kind, and generous. She obtained happiness from the little things in life. Kimberly had high expectations for others and was known for encouraging everyone to achieve their dreams. She was one of the few people in the world who was truly happy for others when they had good fortune or achieved success. She always put others and their feelings before her own. Kimberly loved the Lord, read scripture daily, and spread love and joy to others. Kimberly attended Big Walnut Baptist Church in Reelsville during her youth and most recently attended Maryland Community Church in Terre Haute where she was recently baptized on Sunday, July 4th.
Visitation will be from 2-6 pm on September 5, 2021 at Hopkins - Rector (4 Percy L. Julian Dr., Greencastle, IN 46135). Funeral services will be held by Pastor Nick Strobel of Maryland Community Church at 10:00 a.m. on September 6, 2021, at Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Boone-Hutcheson Cemetery.
