Joyce graduated from Amo high school in 1959 and then attended the House of James Beauty College. She operated “Hair Styles by Joyce” from home for more than 55 years with many loyal clients. For years she and Don enjoyed square dancing and country western dancing. They met many of their friends and forged lifelong relationships through dancing. She also loved working in the yard and in her flower gardens. She loved various crafts and sewing Halloween costumes for her grandchildren.
Joyce stayed busy. Known by some as “the energizer bunny” she always had something going on. Her most cherished roles were as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family meant everything to her. Every summer Don and Joyce treated the entire family to a camping adventure at Holiday World theme park and Camp Rudolph. Their camper was home base for food, planning and great fun. We all also enjoyed spring breaks and camping at McCormick’s Creek and other State Parks. As each grandchild reached about the age of 12 Don and Joyce took them on a month-long excursion “out west.” Each one had the opportunity to plan their own adventure and itinerary. A month of memories and bonding with grandma and grandpa is something they all cherish.
Joyce is survived by her husband, Donald E. Cochran; daughter, LaChelle M. (Wells), (Greg) Acton; two sons, Ryan P. “Chip” (Sarah) Cochran and Todd A. (Glenda) Cochran; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in the Hopkins-Rector Funeral Home, Greencastle, IN, followed by a Funeral service at 8:00 pm. Condolences may be sent to the Hopkins-Rector website
