Born August 28, 1945 in Terre Haute the son of Otis Walton and Flossie Ellen (Taylor) Wharton and was a student of West Vigo High School.
John was a professional tool and die maker several years for Lobdell Emory, Greencastle and later for Toyota in Vincennes. He was a member of the UAW.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Charley Wharton; and his companion Nancy Huber.
John is survived by his son Gary (Jennifer) Wharton; daughter Nicky Wharton and fiancée’ Brandon Moore; sisters Laura (Carl) Miller and Rose O’Neal; grandchildren Quentin, Jeremiah, Alexandra, Hadleigh, Jace, and Christain.
Memorial services with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Forest Hill Cemetery Mausoleum.
Bittles and Hurt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
