Theodore “Ted” Lewis Johnson, 84, of Greeley, died March 14, 2014 at his home. He was born October 8, 1929 at home 10 miles Southeast of Loveland to John Emil and Lillie Marie (Molander) Johnson. Ted was the youngest of six children.
Ted served in the U. S. Air Force from October 6, 1948 to August 10, 1951. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.
Ted attended Twin Mounds Schools through 8th grade and Roosevelt High School in Johnstown. Ted married Joan Mangan on January 11, 1953 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Loveland. After they were married, the couple resided in Greeley. Ted was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Ted was part of the administrative staff and a driver for Frontier Oil Inc. and then for Bethke Truck Lines until he retired in 1995. He and his family enjoyed camping and traveling. Their many travels took them through 46 of the 48 Continental States. Above all he enjoyed the time spent with his family and the trips they took together. Ted loved to joke and had a wonderful sense of humor. He also had a passion for cars.
Ted is survived by his wife Jo Johnson; daughters Lue Ann Everett (Lloyd) of Mancos, Colorado and Karen Johnson (Allen) of Greeley; son Jim “J.J.” Johnson (Mickie) of Denver; a sister Shirley Hoven of Parker; a brother Charles Milton Johnson of Greeley; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Agnes Arnold and two brothers Milford and Wilbur.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, March 20 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 21 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
