Steve was a 1978 graduate of Platte Valley High School in Kersey, Colorado, and attended the Denver Institute of Technology and upon his completion moved to Kansas to work for National Cash Register. This is where he met and married Lisa (Buss) in 1981. The couple had three sons, Zechariah, Seth and Chad. Steve was a 3rd generation farmer and farmed for most of his life, growing corn, sugar beets, wheat and alfalfa. Steve’s favorite time of year was beet harvest, he loved the smell of the dirt and operating the beet digger. Steve loved attending Platte Valley Broncos Football games to watch his sons play; and even after they all graduated he still enjoyed going to watch the games with his mother and grandchildren. He also enjoyed cooking and loved watching cooking shows. He was a hard worker and respected by his family and friends. Steve was passionate about farming and sharing that passion with others. He was able to do just that over the course of 26 years as a volunteer with the Colorado Farm show and as a member of the Young Farmers’ Association. He was also a member of the Western Sugar Beet Growers Association. Steve was also a member of the Kersey Community Church for many years and served as a Deacon during that time.
He is survived by his sons, Zechariah (Zella) Foos, Seth (Alica) Foos, and Chad (Molly) Foos, his mother, Roline Foos, and brothers, Stan (Bonnie) Foos and Doug (Gayle) Foos, and six grandchildren, who lovingly referred to him as Papa Goose.
Steve is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Foos.
A Memorial Service will be held on June 28, 2024 at the St. John’s United Church of Christ, 3815 W. 20th Street, Greeley, Colorado at 10:30 a.m.
