Shirley M. Stump (Southard), 94, of Evans, CO, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023 at the Pathways Inpatient Care Center in Fort Collins, CO. Shirley was born in Eaton, CO on May 23, 1929. She lived in the Eaton and Greeley areas for most of her life.
In 1946, Shirley married Kenneth Ike Southard and they had one daughter, Linda M. Southard. They divorced in 1960 and he passed away in 1966. Shirley worked at the Weld County Hospital in Central Supply, at Wright McGill (fishing tackle) for 13 years and for School District 6 in the nutrition department for nine years.
In March 1973, Shirley married Russell C. Stump at the Calvary Baptist Church in Greeley. After their marriage, they moved to Lochbuie, CO, where they lived for 22 years. She worked for NER Data Products in Denver for 11 1/2 years. After Russell passed away on June 14, 1995, Shirley moved back to Evans, where she lived until her passing.
Shirley was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and Faith Bible Baptist Church. She was very devoted to doing the Lord's work.
Shirley is survived by her son-in-law, Bob Curtis of Fort Collins; two grandchildren, Brenda (Ben) Austin of Greeley and Brian (Holle) Curtis of Loveland; three great-grandchildren, Ashley (Donovan), Jonathan (Amy) and Matthew and four great-great-grandchildren, Koji, Colton, Kena and Jameson.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Clara M. Huston (Dotson), father, Sewell Huston, sister, Betty Lee Schwitt, brother, Norman (Sam) Huston, husbands, Kenneth I. Southard and Russell G. Stump, aunt, Bea Rader and daughter, Linda M. Curtis.
A visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023 followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 W. 28th St., Greeley. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
