Shirley was born in Norfolk, VA on August 3, 1932 and graduated from Norview High School in 1949. While working as a secretary at General Motors Acceptance Corporation, she met Clarence “Robbie” Robins. They fell in love and were married on March 1, 1952 in Malden, MO where Robbie was stationed in the Air Force. After several moves, Robbie and Shirley lived in Virginia where they started their family. Robbie’s work brought them to Colorado in 1969 where they lived for 31 years. After raising her children, Shirley went back to work as an administrative assistant in the mortgage banking industry. Before retirement, her last job was with Colorado Housing and Finance Authority as a Low-Income Tax Credit Allocation Officer.
Shirley loved her Lord Jesus and was an active member of every church she attended. She loved to cook, garden and take care of all the wild birds who found homes in her yard. Most of all, Shirley loved spending time with family and will be missed by them all, but they are at peace knowing she is reunited with Robbie in heaven just one day before their 65th wedding anniversary.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to family physician, Dr. Deric T. Macintosh and the staff of Pathways Hospice of Northern Colorado. Donations in Shirley’s honor may be made to either the Limb Preservation Foundation of Colorado or Pathways Hospice.
