Sara Jeanne “Sallie” Johnson (née Jacobson) passed away peacefully April 3, 2023. Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she resided for most of her life in Greeley, Co. The daughter of Theodore “Pete” and Mayme Sue (Murphy) Jacobson, Sallie was born February 4, 1932 in Ft. Morgan CO. While attending Colorado State College of Education (CSCE) she met her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Leo Johnson. Married December 27, 1953 in Weldona, CO, they spent a lifetime together bonded by their shared love of music. As a member of the Pi Kappa Sigma sorority, she graduated in 1954 with a degree from CSCE in music. In 1980 she received her Master’s degree of Music from the University of Northern Colorado. Sallie was an active member of the Greeley community as a lifelong patron of the arts, a member of the Fortnightly Music Club, the Music Teachers Association, and The First Congregational Church. As a professional piano player, she provided piano lessons to promising young students who shared the same love of music. She started her music career at age 7, taking lessons from her Aunt Maude Murphy and maintaining lessons from her longtime teacher Larry Graham in Boulder Co until the age of 88. Sallie was dedicated to the pursuit of mastering the piano and worked tirelessly to bring the musicality of each piece to life, coaching and encouraging her students to do the same. When Sallie wasn’t playing the piano she was an avid tennis player, played a wicked game of Gin Rummy, and enjoyed the companionship of her beloved dogs over the years, Josie, Abigail, Maggie, Lindsey and Bella. Survived by her 2 children, Jeff (Courtney), Nancy, 4 grandchildren, Rachel, Emily, Jacob and Ben and her sister, Barbara. Sallie was loved by many and will be forever missed by all who knew her. She leaves a lasting legacy to always strive to be your best, follow your dreams and most importantly to be happy.
