Ruth Ellis, 95, of Pueblo West, died March 15, 2021 in Pueblo. Mrs. Ellis was born in Clinton, Oklahoma the daughter of Elijiah Gunsolus and Lilly Bell. She was raised and educated in Oklahoma. She married L.C. Avery in 1941 from this union came 2 children: Carol and Ron. In the pursuit of finding work, the couple moved to Pueblo in 1947. Ruth and L.C. divorced n 1959. Ruth Later married Melvin “Chuck” Ellis, they resided in the Denver area before moving to Greeley in 1970. Here, they resided until Chuck’s health forced them to return to Pueblo in 2004. Ruth worked as a waitress and a hostess most of her life. She was a member of the VFW ladies auxiliary and attended her local church. She was an excellent gardener and had a green thumb that allowed her to make anything grow. She will be remembered for the care she provided her grandchildren and the joy it brought her.
Ruth is survived by her son Ron Avery of Salida, Colo.; grandchildren: Regi Thallas, Kris Schlegel, Ken Eastwood, Ron Avery Jr., Troy Avery, Danelle Hupper; 8 great-grandchildren: Robyn, Eric, Alex, Zachary, Tyler, Hayley, Anson, Kaiden and 7 great-great-grandchildren: Gavin, Peyton, Amaya, Jayce, Cason, Maverick and Jaden. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Carol Martin along with her sisters and brothers.
