She was born September 11, 1933, in Gibbon, Nebraska, to Martin and Marie (Haug) Hibberd.
Rose married David L. Jelden on September 7, 1952, in Lexington.
They lived in St. Cloud, MN; Lexington and Gibbon, NE; and Columbia, MO; before moving to Greeley in 1962.
She was a graduate of Lexington High School, Lexington, NE, and received her Bachelor of Arts degree at University of Northern Colorado. Rose was a substitute teacher in Greeley for over 20 years before her retirement.
Rose was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greeley, and she also worked in the Church Office for many years. Dave and Rosie were members of a small potluck group that continued to meet weekly for meals until very recently. She was a member of the Greeley Lioness Club, and P.E.O. She was also involved in Delta Kappa Gamma.
She enjoyed playing the piano, knitting and sewing, with everyone in the family having a handmade Christmas stocking. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family, and attending her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s activities.
Survivors include: sons Steven Jelden, of Arvada; Dennis (Linda) Jelden, of Holyoke; and Kevin (Konnie) Jelden, of Greeley; grandchildren, Anna and Emily Jelden, of Holyoke; and Kolten (Alex) Jelden, Kaelie (Zach) Sandstrom and Karli (Nick Childs) Jelden, of Greeley; and great-grandchildren, Emmitt, Zoa, and Stone Sandstrom.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and a sister.
A visitation will be held on Monday October 7, 2024, 10:00am, at the First United Methodist Church, 917 10th Ave, Greeley. A Memorial Service will follow at 11:00 am, with a reception gathering after.
