Frederick (Rick) Fritzler 66 of Greeley passed away February 1, 2018 at Pathways Hospice at McKee Medical Center in Loveland, Co. of complications from open heart surgery. He was born September 21, 1951 at the old Greeley Hospital to Paul and Bertha (Schmidt) Fritzler.
He was baptized at Christ Lutheran Church in Eaton and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Bethel Lutheran Church in Windsor, Co. After graduating from Windsor High School in 1969, Rick enlisted in the U.S. Army. He did a year of schooling in tank maintenance graduating at the top of his class and did a tour of duty in South Korea. He was honorable discharged in 1971. Having grown up on a farm, farming was in Rick's blood and he then spent the next 20 years farming for himself and for others. He gave up farming and began working for Agland in 1992 retiring from there in 2014. Rick was a hard worker all his life and family was the love of his life. He collected classic cars including two life sized ones that were his pride and joy. Car shows occupied his summer months. Rick also had a soft spot in his heart for veterans and veteran affairs.
Rick is survived by his son John C. Fritzler of Kersey and daughter Katie Fritzler of Greeley and grandson Wyatt John Fritzler, brother John J. (Karen) Fritzler and sister Kathie McDermed both of Greeley, nieces Tara Bollig (Derek Heginbottom) of Loveland and Kristin(David) Dexter of Greeley , great niece Kaylyn Chambers and great nephew Brayden Chambers, and numerous relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Paul.
Service will be Friday February 9 at 1:00p.m. at Stoddard Funeral Home. Inurnment following at Windsor Cemetery.
