Raymond C. Miller, 90, of Greeley, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020. He was born September 12, 1929 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Conrad and Elizabeth Miller.
Ray graduated from Galeton High School in 1949. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1950 serving in Germany as a truck and tank mechanic. He attended the University of Northern Colorado, majoring in Biological Sciences.
Ray had three children with his first marriage: Elaine Miller, Cottonwood, AZ; Raymond Duane (Michelle) Miller, Hot Springs, AK; and Lori Ann Wood, Richmond, TX.
Ray married Dora Mae (Dinges) Kreps, who had four children: Barbara Kinn, Littleton, CO; Cynthia (Ed) Robson, Youngtown, AZ; Janice (Chris) Deverell, Parker, CO and Brenda (Juan) Trujillo, Greeley, CO. Between the two families, he had six grandchildren: Anya, Stacy, Christopher, Krista, Christy, Danielle; and five great-grandchildren.
He was employed at Western Construction Company, Montgomery Wards, Hendric Boltoff, Ehrlich Automotive, Greeley Auto, Ted Nieters, Weld County Lumber Company, Everett Lumber Company, Parr Auto Parts, L & R Construction and UNC where he retired after 11 years as an Environmental Safety Officer.
Some of Ray’s personal interests included: Involved with Jobs Daughters when his daughters Elaine and Lori were Honored Queens. He went on to become the Associate Grand Guardian for Colorado.
He was the Worshipful Master at Occidental Lodge #20 in Greeley; became a member of Garfield Masonic Lodge #50 of Longmont, where he received the 50-Year Member Award. He was a member of Greeley Elks Lodge #809 and served as a Trustee for three years.
Ray was a member of the Keenage Singers sponsored by the Senior Center. He was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Greeley since 1950, volunteering as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Sanctuary Choir.
Preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Violet Gemachlich, Delores Foss, Mae Martinson and his brothers Wilbur (Shorty) and Lawrence Miller; and his son-in-law Hans Kinn.
Survivors include his wife Dora, his children, step-children and grand-children, his sister Jodie Leffler, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Marianne Dinges, sister-in-law Mary Ann Peery, and many nieces and nephews.
