He was born in San Angelo, Texas on June 25, 1955, to Guadalupe and Joe R. Garcia. Raymond was a proud man who loved his family deeply and was deeply loved in return.
If you knew Raymond, you could appreciate his sense of accomplishment and the joy he found in fixing things and making things right. He worked from a young age alongside his family in fields from Texas to Colorado. After settling in Greeley, Raymond made his way through the Greeley school system, graduating from Greeley West High School in 1974.
He worked many jobs, learning trades along the way. He could do anything from carpentry and concrete work, to landscaping and electrical work. Raymond was known for being the family handyman and electrician, often being the first to call when something went awry. His family loved his spicy green chili, which paired nicely with his mom’s flour tortillas. He insisted on doing well whatever he endeavored.
Raymond was hired at Kodak Colorado Division in 1975. He enjoyed a long and successful career, holding several technical jobs within the company. During his years at Kodak, he completed an intense training program, making him a high-speed equipment mechanic.
During that same time, he completed his associate degree in electrical engineering through Aims Community College. He retired from Kodak in 2010 after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
Raymond was most proud of his family. He married Linda Bollinger in 1983 and they enjoyed many years of fun, friends, travel, building their home together, and finally his greatest joy, the birth of their twins in 1996. Raymond loved and cared for his family with every beat of his heart. In this life, Raymond was an extraordinary father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, saw his children finish high school and college, and tended to his many projects around the house. He continued doing what he loved, often persisting through the progression of his disease.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Garcia of Greeley and their two children, Rachel Garcia of Greeley and Logan Garcia of Loveland; his sisters Lidia (Floyd Jr.) Ryder, Emma (Inacio) Ramos, Augustina (Doug) Pollock, Guadalupe Garcia (Bill Monson), and Edna (Joe) Mata all of Greeley, Cecilia (Dan) Quanbeck of Salem, Oregon, Alicia Rubio Garcia of Colorado Springs; his brothers Trinidad (Mary) Garcia, and John (Teresa) Garcia of Texas; a half-sister Carol Rocha of Texas; a half-brother Joe (Modesta) Garcia, Jr. of Texas; a brother-in-law Ed (Pam) Bollinger of Arizona, a sister-in-law Sue (Sam) Aghajani of Greeley, a brother-in-law Tom (Stephanie) Bollinger of Walden, a step sister-in-law Debbie Preston of Sterling; and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe R. and Guadalupe Garcia, and his mother and father-in-law Janet and Bud Preston.
After a long, hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Raymond passed away peacefully on Sept. 7, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving wife and children.
