When Norma Jackson married Bob Pope on November 3, 1951, they became the founding members of the crazy Pope clan. Norma presided over many a wild rumpus with her beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as many a friend. Known as G-Bird, G-Ma, Ghetto Granny and Gangster Granny, her home was a revolving door of activity. Whether it was her daughter Jennifer Weigel, dropping in for a visit or taking her to an appointment, her great-granddaughter Bryanna Carlson and Logan Brandt coming to stay during a break from school, or her great-grandson Bowen Brandt serenading her with a ukulele, Norma lived for visits from loved ones. Her son Mike Pope and son-in-law Ken Weigel often spent time keeping up on the house and yard and making sure she was comfy and safe for entertaining the wild bunch. Daughter-in-law Lois prepared dinner on Sundays for weekly visits. Granddaughter Brooke Pope Peebler and her husband Doug often visited with their two dogs Sancho and Susie Q. Grandson Bobby Pope always had running inside jokes with his grandma and they enjoyed giving each other a hard time. Granddaughter Stacy Maier with her husband Dave pampered and adored Norma. Granddaughter Wendy Best and great-grandson Bryce Carlson kept Norma guessing and always told her they loved her. Grandchildren by marriage included Shannon and Bret Mericle, Sharee Weigel, Kendra Weigel, Shane and Lady Weigel, Russ Brandt and Eric Carlson. Great grandchildren by marriage include Reece Weigel, Jordon Lovatt-Weigel, Pranee Weigel, Judilynn and Carson Mericle, and Taylor and Maddie Maier. Preceding her in death are sons Pat and Danny Pope and husband Bob Pope.
Norma is loved for her compassion, sense of humor, humble attitude, generous spirit, unconditional love but above all her poppy seed bread and pancakes. In her down-to-earth fashion, Norma requests all funeral, bural and memorial guests come as you are in blue jeans or your everyday attire.
