Morris “Moe” Leo Koehler, of Eaton, passed away Tuesday, March 19th, 2024. Born in Sterling, CO on February 13th, 1948, he was the son of the late Clarence and Marguerite Koehler. He married Irene “Renie” Zink on July 15th, 1972, and joyfully celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2022. Most affectionately known as Moe, he was a man of large stature yet had the kindest heart. Moe was extremely proud of his sacrifice to serve his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was deeply patriotic. His work ethic was second to none and his love and devotion to his family was unparalleled.
Moe worked for Industrial Welding as a welder, fabricator, and crane operator for more than 30 years. He then started a career in the oil field business and worked for Heat Waves for 11 years before finally retiring. He was rarely one to watch TV and was typically working on something around the house or in his shop. He could fix absolutely anything. He had an innate ability to make friends whenever meeting someone and had a profound effect on all he met with his abundant amount of kindness and unconditional love. He loved God greatly and read scripture daily. His family was his most treasured asset and never took them for granted.
Moe is survived by his children: Troy Koehler (Diana), Tonja Pitt (Kelly). Grandchildren: Dominic Bell (Shaena), Brandon Koehler (Ashleigh), Devin Bell (Suzie), Ryan Koehler, and Faith Bell. Great-grandchildren: Darius Bell, Greyson Koehler, and Gina Bell. Siblings: Betty Herzog, Fr. Kenneth Koehler, Dale Koehler (Linda), Mary Koehler, Vickie Barker (Don). Brothers-in-law Philip (Sonny) Zink IV and Don Kippes. Sisters-in-law Linda Mari and Diana Loos (Tom).
Moe is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Renie, both parents, Clarence and Marguerite, parents-in-law, Philip III and Irene Zink, sisters Janice Lechman, Charlotte Gaynor, Kathy Taylor, Peggy Zink, sister-in-law Patty Kippes and brothers-in-law Ray Herzog and Frank Mari.
Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd at 10:30 am at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sterling, CO. Reception and luncheon will be held immediately following Mass at Hagus Hall. Private inurnment to be held at Fort Logan Cemetery.
