This morning I was looking for hood ornaments for my motorcycle and I came across your web site.  However, I was saddened to learn that Michael had passed away in 2006.  I graduated from the University of Utah in 1985 and whenever I was at Trolley Square, I used to go into the gallery/store and admire his work.  As a college student I couldn't afford a lot of the pieces, but I was able to purchase a few  and still have them displayed in my office. I was truly impressed when I read about his life and career, because I only ""knew"" him through the work I saw in Salt Lake City.  What an extraordinary talent he possessed. I did not know Mr. Ricker, but recently read about him, due to my search for the artist behind a signature on a beautiful pewter sculpture of a nurse I bought on an online auction several years ago. The company selling it didn't know anything about it, either. On the back, it is inscribed, ""© Ricker '89"". I wondered about this artist ""Ricker"", who made this wonderful piece of art. I was surprised to find any information at all, and amazed at all the other sculptures I seen on the online gallery. My first thoughts were that I knew someone special made this piece, and I wished I would've known about Mr. Ricker sooner. I would've been a loyal collector. Then I found that I can still buy his artwork, his family is continuing his work. I give my deepest sympathy to the family of Mr. Michael Ricker, and will now always think of him when I look at my beautiful sculpture. Everyone asks me about the nurse, so now I can tell them who is behind the signature on the back.

I met Michael several times at shows in St Louis. I have several of his pieces and prints as well as a hand drawn picture for me.  My husband & I enjoyed drinks & laughs with him after the shows. The world is missing a wonderful, talented man.

To the family and friends of Michael Ricker, the world has lost a talent artist and sulptor as well as a good man. We all feel the loss as there will never be another like Mr Ricker. I first met Michael in Orlando Fl, Michael made an appearance at the stuido on Church street station, what a wonderful experence that was for myself and my wife i will never forget that day. What an amazing legacy! I see that it's been 3 years since Michael's passing, and people are still commenting as they find out. He certainly touched a lot of people, didn't he?
   My mother-in-law gave me several of Michael's pieces over the years. I think she bought them at Seaport Village. Her house is full of them- Christmas, fantasy, children. I have the 1984 LA Olympic Games Rabbit with Star flag. Thanks for sharing him.

As a long-time collector of Michael's work, it saddened me to learn today of his passing.  He personally signed many of my pieces and I always enjoyed chatting with him about his planned works.  I will always cherish the memory of attending the formal gala in 1990 and visiting the shop and museum in Loveland.  We will all miss you, Michael.  Thank you for the joy and beauty you brought to our lives through your art and sculpture.

My wife started to collect Michael's work in the early 80's and has about 80 pieces, I collected the NASCAR series and various other signed pieces.  Michael has signed most of our pieces at different showings.  He was a great person to talk with and will be missed by the art world.

I am so sad.  I  was checking e-bay to see if I could find some of his work and saw the article that he had passed away in 2006.

Mr. Michael Ricker's Family I give you my Sincere Condolences on your passing of your loved one.  My Dad and I were Honored by meeting Mr. Ricker after I bought my Dad a Christmas Plate for Christmas one year, Southwestern 1982. From that moment on Dad spent years buying and showing off Mr. Ricker's Collections. He loved them dearly.  He bought every item that he could from that day on, from Park City Gueen, Park City Train, Chess Wagon,  to hundreds of others to numerous to mention. He has also passed on, and  now I have his pride and joy.  I want to Thank You for Mr. Ricker's    Collections  God Bless.

We just learned today of Michael's passing.  As one of his early dealers, we have many wonderful memories of his talents and visits.  Our relationship began while visiting the Atlantic City Gift show in 1979 and were captivated by his creativity and dream of Park City.  Later that year while visiting Myra's parents in Ft.Collins, we called the studio and arranged a dinner meeting with Michael.  After his favorite prime rib dinner and wine, we admired his genius and wanted to represent his art.  We ended up showcasing the entire Park City to thousands of visitors to Amish Country in Lancaster, Pa.  Michael graciously attended many showings and always had time to greet all his friends and collectors.  We have retired and our donation of Park City to Hospice, aided in fund-raising for the local Hospice Center.  Michael's work has warmed the hearts of many and we are sure someday we will see a ""blessed collection.""

I just discovered the news about Michael. I worked at a gift shop in Colts Neck, NJ, that was one of the only places in NJ that carried Michael's work. I met him a number of times, at each signing he did,and was constantly amazed at his creativity with Park City, and all of his work. I have many of his pieces, and one special one, created when my twins were born, titled,""Oh Dad, Poor Dad!"".He was a lovely, talented man, and will be sorely missed.

As I put out my Christmas decorations this year - several of them being Michael Ricker pieces, it reminded me to go online and see new pieces - which I had not done in almost 2 years.  I was saddened to learn of Michael's passing.  I was honored to meet him twice when he made appearances at signings in Arizona.  I have had years of enjoyment with my small collection and hope to continue collecting for years to come.  I send my prayers to the Ricker family.

I am sadden by the news of Mr. Ricker's death.  I have several of his pieces in my collection all of elephants.  I was always contacted by someone on his staff when a new elephant piece hit the market.  I met him once and shared with him how much I enjoy my collection.

At one time I was one of Michaels largest collectors. I have fond memories including the gala in Denver with President Ford ( I created a bit of excitment when my wheelchair took a spill and dumped me onto the parking lot - tux and all - but I never blinked twice I insisted on staying for the event and had a very memorable time. Michael always made people feel very special, a great artist and a great person he will be missed.

I am grateful to  have some small pieces.  Michael certainly used his many gifts to bring beauty into the lives of others.  His many charitable works are a credit to his generous spirit.  I hope his family and friends are at peace knowing he added to the joy of so many.  May Michael rest in the peace of the Lord.

Although some great amount of time has passed since he left his Earthly family, each time I gaze upon the items in my collection I remember with great fondness the kindness and dedication to art that Michael exhibted each time we met.

I remember meeting Mr. Ricker when I was 10 years old. My Granfather took me to one of his shows to have some of my 'Animal Shoes' collection signed. He was a great guy. He was truely talented in what he did. Sadly missed by many!

My condolences to the family.  Collected many pieces while skiing in Colorado and visiting Florida.  They are an addition to our living room and great conversational pieces.

My husband and I were talking about our upcoming retirement and downsizing this past weekend.  Being that I have many shelves of Michael's sculptures, I knew I would have to sell many pieces to make space in a smaller home. So I thought I would get on the website to see about selling these pieces on the secondary market and found that Michael had passed away.  My heart is heavy because there are so many fond memories from the 1st time I met Michael in 1981 at the gallery in Toledo Ohio.  I was at all his showings at the galleries near us except for one which was in conflict with vacation plans that had already been made. Michael called and left a message wondering where I was.  The gala showing of Park City in which there is a piece named after me in Denver and the celebrity golf tournaments I participated in will never be forgotten.

I was shocked and saddened when I searched the internet today and learned of Michael's passing.  We have several of his works and the memories of meeting him on several occasions will be with us forever.  We attended the 'grand opening"" of his museum in Estes Park, a beautiful city surrounded by the mountains, and he took out of his valuable time the last time we were at the museum to visit with us for a short time. He was truly a talented individual and we will remember him as we look at his sculptures.  I only wish he could have done more.  He will be missed.

I first saw Michaels work while I was in the Air Force in Wyoming. I got many pieces while I was there and many years after and they still are very special to me. I am so sorry to hear of his death. He was a great talent and man I still hope to visit Park City one day.

I just came across this sad news today.  We were both so shocked and saddened and we are so sorry for the loss of this beautiful man.  He certainly touched, and will always touch hearts and lives with his art.  He has left behind a legacy that will go on forever.

I have only good memories of my collections of Mr.Ricker's sculptures which I began with a PeeWee in 1981 from Casa Bonita in Denver. My collection grew through my relocation to Colorado Springs and a gallery in the Citadel Mall. I was lucky enough to meet Mr Ricker twice in annual gallery showings. One of my most prized items I own is the limited addition ""America Wins"" hockey statue that he did for the 1980 USA Hockey Team.  My wife bought it for me for my birth day.  It has followed me to every office I have ever worked in and is as much apart of my 35 year career and has very special meaning,
I was shocked to see that Micheal has passes.  His work is such a tribute to him, his legacy and I only regret that I never met him to tell him how much that piece means to me.

I first began collecting Michael's work in the mid 80's. The first piece of Michael's I saw was Dale, one of his bunnies, and I immediately fell in love with him. That was the beginning of years of collecting, series after series. I was fortunate to be able to see the Park City display at Dutch Indoor Village in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and to meet and talk with Michael there. I also was able to get one of the large carousels. (I never figured out the weight on that piece, but it was over 75 pounds, as UPS wouldn't take it.) What a gracious, kind person Michael was! He will truly be missed, not just for his phenomenal artwork and talent, but also for his kindness and humor. My prayers are with his family.

We began collecting Micheal's pewter shortly after we married in 1985. We quit when our small house was filled to the brim. Unfortunately, we lost many of the pieces in a fire in 2001, but not the St. Micheal that Micheal had generously given to my young son at a signing in 1993. Ironically, that same son lost his best friend to an aeortic anuerysm the day before Micheal died. The pain is still there, but softening with time.
Micheal was always kind and generous and even, can I say? A bit of a flirt!

I just learned of Michael's passing. May it comfort the family to know that his work has brought me untold pleasure for many, many years. I have purchased in Texas, Utah, Kansas and California. My first piece was a school marm just as I was preparing to student teach. He was truly remarkable.

We started collecting in 1980 from Clearwater, FL. and had the pleasure of attending two shows and talking to this tremendous artist. We have three of his chess sets so we see his work daily. We were so saddend to hear of his death. It is like losing your own relative! Our sincere sympathy to his family. Our pieces will be more treasured and passed down through the generations.

I am a collector and have many, many of Michael's pieces, mostly carousel items.  I have the big horse on the 20 pound slab of marble also.  I love his work and will miss him terribly.

I just took out the manger scene for the first time since we moved and saw the broken donkey's ear. I decided to look up the company and was saddened to learn that Michael had died. My brother started my collection many years ago through the Russells' store in Nacogdoches, Texas. Michael was such a pleasant presenter when he would come to show new pieces. Sorry to hear about Micheal.  I started collecting in the 1980's by collecting the soldiers series.

Our family,(Mac, Sally, Kira, Jennifer, Philip and Cyndi) have been collecting Michael's sculptures for years. I had bugged Michael so many times to make a ferret sculpture, and even brought in pictures from a ferret calendar for him.  Not long after, Michael came out with the santa ferret, who stands in my china cabinet, still proudly holding the goodie bag!  My father Mac, and I attended a few shows before I moved back to AZ, and truly enjoyed having Michael sign our newest acquisitions, as well as having a few words with him.  A truly great loss to the world, Michael will be sorely missed.

My deepest sympathies. My husband Mark was fond of Michael's work and has collected some of the pewter trains and a knife. Mark passed away on November 15, 2006 of the same ailment as Michael. I like to think that they met in heaven.

I wanted to send my heartfelt condolences to the family.  I met Mr. Ricker's son Ty at a concert and he escorted me to the dedication of Park City. I am so sorry for your loss.  I did not hear until surfing the web for information on Michael today that i found out of his passing.  He was a such a talented man and very kind and i know we are both so glad we got the chance to meet him. A friend of mine is making her first trip to Colorado and I was telling her about Michael, his art work and his studio.  I told her about his pewter figurines which I had collected for my daughter. And about the time he gave me an owl necklace during my visit to his studio. I began searching the web and was sadden to hear of Michael's passing. What a wonderful legacy his has left. I am proud to have a memory of him in my heart and my home. My prayers to his family.

I am only now just hearing of Michael's passing.  I am in total shock.  I was Michael's secretary when he first had his studio and office on Industrial Drive in Ft. Collins.  I helped him start his secondary market.  He named his first Christmas plate and Boy on Sled after my son, Andy and his sculpture of Brent and Sue is actually done from a photograph of my two children, Andy and Corey.  I am so sorry for his passing....he offered so much of his talent for so many worthy causes.  May you be at peace Michael...I will always remember you.

I just heard about Michael's passing from my Mother in Law who lives in Fort Collins. I have been friends with Michael over many years and have owned many of his pieces. I will miss just knowing he was there.

I remember recieving in the mail his invitation to an event of knowing a ""NEW"" sculpture was going to be shown and hoping my parents would buy me just one sculpture so I could stand in line afterwards and have michael engrave it with his signature.  18 years later and i'm so sad to just have heard of the loss of one of my oldest memory makers.  I'm so sorry to the family.

Michael and his son Trent gave me my first job out of college.  As a computer programmer it was surreal to have a job in the beautiful design studio in Estes Park.  I would often spend many of my lunch hours admiring Michael?'s beautiful creations in the museum.  Additionally, as a result of Michael and Trent I got to meet many wonderful people and collectors.  My condolences to the Ricker family, may god be with you. 
To the extended Ricker family and associates I know Michael made a difference in your life and the lives of countless others. Keep smiling and sharing his art that?'s what he would want us to do.
To all my friends that I met because of Michael Ricker (Lee Yoder, Dee Yoder, Dan & Bev Cruz, Kaarn, Gerry, Del & Dinah, Ashlie, Glen Shoemaker, Sonya & Dave, and many others) I miss you.
