Melissa Berry Simpson, 32 of Greeley, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. Melissa was born in Freeport, IL, on May 15, 1986 to Douglas Peter and Brenda Jo (Dellamuth) Jaynes. Melissa married Robert Simpson in August of 2012. Melissa and Robert had a “lifelong” romance going back to preschool.
Melissa’s family moved to Greeley in 1990. She attended Scott Elementary School, Trinity Lutheran School, and graduated from University High School in 2005.
Melissa loved everyone she met, especially family, kids and the elderly. She was an advocate for herself and for anyone with a disability. Melissa was a tissue organ donor. She enjoyed playing basketball and going to Bronco and Rockies games with her family and friends. She always had a smile, and loved being a mom more than anything.
Melissa is survived by her husband Robert Simpson; their daughter, Cassidy Berry Simpson; parents, Doug and Brenda Jaynes; brother, Matthew (Cory) Jaynes of Wellington; grandfather, Glen Dellamuth of Williamsburg, IA; grandmother, Joan Jaynes of Scottsdale, AZ; two aunts, Kaylyn (Steve) Kruger of Estes Park, CO and Susan (Todd) Payne of Scottsdale, AZ and an uncle Mark Dellamuth of Walford, IA.
She was preceded in death by an infant brother Chris Jaynes, and grandmother Irma Dellamuth.
A visitation will be held from 4-7:00 P.M. on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel. A Celebration of Melissa’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M, Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Greeley.
