She grew up and attended schools in Denver. She graduated from South High School. After graduation she attended the University of Colorado, graduating with a bachelor degree in pre-med. She then attended CU Medical School, Denver and graduating as a physical therapist. While attending the university, she was an active member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and kept in touch with many of her sorority sisters through the years. She worked in physical therapy for many years, in both hospitals and private practices.
On June 18, 1965, she married James R. Trowbridge at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Denver. They divorced in 2005.
Mary was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and belonged to the Westwood Congregation in Denver. She was a faithful witness and very active in her ministry, conducting Bible studies until she no longer had the ability.
She enjoyed cooking some of her specialties such as, scalloped potatoes, sweet and sour meatballs, rainbow jello, pistachio pudding and fondue. She was a strong advocate for people afflicted with fibromyalgia. Even during her initial years living at Mapleton she was known for helping the other residents by using her skills as a physical therapist.
Mary is survived by a daughter, Christine Alvarado (Jeffrey) of Greeley; a son, James L. Trowbridge II (Sarah) of Lakewood; her grandsons, Xavier and Julian Alvarado of Greeley; a sister, Susan Feagan of Show Low, Arizona; three nieces Becky Han, Trish Feagan, and Gennette Feagan; and a nephew, Stephen Hair. She was preceded in death by her parents and her step-mother, Letha Pomeroy.
Memorial service 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall Jehovah’s Witnesses, 4287 South Eldridge Street, Morrison, Colorado 80465.
