Mary Talmage Neal, 95, of Greeley passed away at The Bridge in Greeley on April 7, 2016. Mary was born July 29, 1920 in New York City, New York, to Thomas Hunt and Mildred (Donnell) Talmage. She married Sherwood “Bill” Neal on July 4, 1947 in Cambridge, MA. He died on June 9, 2005.
Mary graduated from Brearley High School in New York City in 1938. She went on to earn her degree from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, in 1942. She served in the Red Cross from 1945-1947 in Regensburg, Germany. This is where she met Bill.
Mary was a mother and homemaker who also worked at times in the UNC Bookstore and Welcome Wagon. She was a member of the Altar Guild at Trinity Episcopal Church.
Mary was an avid and competitive Bridge player. She enjoyed gardening and reading, had a love of maps and travel, and had an insatiable curiosity!
She is survived by her sons William (Lois) Neal and Richard (Babette) Neal; daughter Patricia Rank; sister Audrey McCollum; grandchildren Bryan Rank, Matthew Neal, Nicholas Neal, Gretchen Neal and Jennifer Neal; as well as one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bill; and sister Jackie Hafner.
Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Trinity Episcopal Church in Greeley.
