Mary "Cussie" Crawford, 72, of Evans passed away peacefully in her home, with her family by her side on February 1, 2013. Mary and her twin brother were born on March 6, 1940, four miles North of Frederick in the family's home to John and Edna "Treat" Gibb.
In 1944, the family moved to Frontier Villa in Cheyenne, Wyo. Mary attended Deming Grade School, Johnson Jr. High and Cheyenne Central, all in Cheyenne. She also attended Gill High School in Gill for one year.
While attending Johnson Jr. High she met Gary D. Crawford. On March 26, 1958 they were married in Greeley at the Lutheran Church. After their marriage they lived in Cheyenne. In 1959 their daughter, Tina Marie was born. Shortly after her birth Gary's job took them to Denver. In 1962 their son, Ricky Dean was born. In 1963 they returned to Greeley/Evans area to raise their family.
Mary was a homemaker the majority of her life, but looked forward to the fall season when she would drive truck during the beet harvest on her sister's farm. She worked a short time at the Phillips 66 station in Evans during the filming of "Centennial".
Mary loved to work outdoors beside her husband. She helped build the first home they owned with acreage and later helped with the building of the second home on the acreage. They lived there until 2003 when her health began to fail. They then moved to Evans.
Mary loved to play Bingo, her son Rick, or granddaughter Stacy would join her and she rarely missed a Wednesday night. She enjoyed trips to Black Hawk and Deadwood, S.D. Although Bingo was her hobby, the highlight of Mary's life was spending time with her "girls", Tina, Stacy, Lindsey and sister, Mable. She loved outings with them, especially during the holiday season. Mary was an avid Colorado Eagles Hockey fan, anytime there was a ticket available, she was ready to go. She didn't have the full concept of the game and had no problem admitting that, but loved the "physical aspect" of the sport. As Mary's illness progressed and she spent more time at home you could always find one of her four legged friends on her lap, Boomer, Duke, Dudley and Bear.
Mary was a good hearted woman and would help anyone in need. She was loved dearly by her family and will be missed.
Mary is survived by her husband, Gary of Evans, her daughter, Tina (Terry) Maxwell of Evans, her son, Ricky Crawford of Evans, and friend Amanda Baker of Greeley, a sister, Mable McGillicuddy, of Evans, a sister-in-law, Cheryl (Ray) Koski of Livermore, CA, a twin brother, John (Peggy) Gibb, of Yoder, Wyo. brothers, James Pafford of Little Rock, AK, Harold Pafford of Cheyenne, Ray Pafford of Hershey.
