Marjorie Ann Herrera-Gillespie

Marjorie Ann Herrera-Gillespie, 86, of Fort Collins, Colorado, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Prestige Care Center. She was born July 9, 1936 in Del Norte, Colorado to Arthur and Lillian (Vigil) Velasquez.

Marjorie grew up in Del Norte with her eight siblings. Marjorie loved singing and dancing. In the 1950s, Marjorie and two of her sisters performed as "The Charmettes” and won a singing competition.

Marjorie married Robert J. Herrera in August 1955. He passed away in 2003. She later married Clifford Gillespie. They were divorced.

Marjorie graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with her Master's degree. She worked in behavioral health as a psychologist.

Marjorie enjoyed bird watching, reading and collecting jewelry.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Robert (Lali) Herrera; sisters, Vera Cisneros, Betty Arellano, Helen (Fred) Medina, Dorothy Rivera and Pricilla (Lorry) Martinez; brothers, Joseph (Rosalyn) Velasquez and Anthony (Judi) Velasquez; grandchildren, Robert J. Herrera, Ashley (Todd) James, Joshua (Callie) Herrera, Ryan (Krista) Herrera and Cassie (Jabier) Sanchez; step-grandchildren, Jenny and Jessica; great-grandchildren, Kenli and Kole; step-great-grandchildren, Olivia, Isabella, Jalen and Emily and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by ten granddogs. 🐾

She was preceded in death by her son, Russell Herrera, brother, Robert Velasquez, parents, Lillian and Arthur Velasquez and brothers-in-law, Tony Cisneros, Gilbert Arellano and Claude Rivera.

A Celebration of Life reception will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 West 28th Street, Greeley, CO.

Her final rest will take place in Del Norte, CO in 2023.
