Lorraine Murray

Lorraine Adeline Murray, 95 of Johnstown, Colorado, passed away Friday, August 27, 2021 at Spring Creek Nursing Home. She was born March 11, 1926, in Herndon Kansas to Roy Edward and Florence Marie (Nelson) Carlson. Lorraine helped raise her brothers and sisters after the death of their mother when Lorraine was eight. She later married Jimmie Murray of Heavener, Oklahoma March 6, 1946. They later divorced.

Lorraine grew up in Herndon, Kansas graduating from Oberlin, Kansas in 1943. She taught at a small country school for a year. She then went to California, with a cousin, where she attended college and worked in a theatre. She and Jimmie traveled to many states as he was a corpsman in the Navy. Each of her sons were born at a different Naval base. In the late 1960’s after her divorce, they moved Atwood, Kansas where she worked in the school cafeteria and the Treasurer’s office. In the late 1970’s, she moved to Wichita and worked for Boeing, where she very proudly would share that she worked on the manufacturing of Air Force 1. She took pride in the perfect attendance and Employee of the Month award she was given at Boeing.

She was a diligent reader, enjoyed reading her bible, was interested in reflexology, and studied herbal and homeopathic cures.

Lorraine is survived by sons Jerry Clay (Mary) Murray, James Patrick “Jim” (Patti) Murray; Robert “Bob” (Stacey) Murray, and Richard Alan “Rick” (Laura) Murray: grandchildren Eli, Tina (David), Darlene, Nathan (Erin), Amber, Chris (Jenny), Daniel, David (Tera) Annie Watson; Joshua Whittaker: great grandchildren Carlea, Kyle, Nick, Jenna, Destiny, Keyana, Donivan, Elijah, Aleyah, Jaxon, and Maddox; and brother-in-law Hershel Masters; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death her sons father Jimmie Murray; son Ronald Edward (Dorothy) Murray; grandsons Josh Murray, and Dustin Murray; sisters Bernadine (Wilbur) Hare, Pauline Masters, and Leona Gamblin; as well as brothers Gaynor (Helena) Carlson, and Delbert (Ruth) Carlson; and nephew Blake Hanson.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at 11:00 at Allnutt Funeral Service, Macy Chapel, 6521 west 20th Street, Greeley, CO 80634.
