Linda Gayle Stephens, 71, decided that it was time to start her new life in heaven. Linda was born and raised in Rocky Ford, Colorado on August 31, 1949. Before settling down in Greeley, she lived in Manhattan KS, Northglenn CO, and Garland TX. Linda devoted her life to her children and was the epitome of a single mom, standing alone but proud through the hardest of times. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. After 33 years of proudly working in the Greeley Police Department, Linda retired in 2015.
Some of her many hobbies included cake decorating, cross stitching, ceramics, and countless collections of pigs, porcelain dolls, lady bugs, and anything else that caught her eye! She travelled the world for several years with her daughter and leaves cherished memories from 49 states, Mexico, London, Scotland, and many other destinations while she was cruising. In 2002, she spent a month with her life partner touring Europe by train, staying at hostels at every stop.
Carrying on Linda’s legacy are her children: Jeff (Lory) Stephens and Dana (Leon) Stephenson. Siblings: Judy (Rick) Dacus, Nancy (Mike) Ellis, Tom (Molly) Hamilton, and Rusty Hamilton. And her beloved grandchildren: Collin Calloway, Makayla Calloway, Shyanne Stephens, Harley Stephenson, Aaron Stephenson, Ericka Hildred, Maddie Stephens, Fallyn Schnuerle, and Zack Stephens.
Linda’s parents, Lee and Becky Hamilton, and her life partner, Dennis Quesenberry, were waiting for her at the gates of heaven on August 23, 2021 when her family said good-bye.
“You made us proud, mom! We always knew you were proud of us; but today, we are proud of you. Your example of what a good parent is, made us who we are today. We will miss the daily phone calls, but we will still talk to you daily. We know you are decorating heaven waiting for our arrival someday.”
A memorial service will be held September 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Allnutt Funeral Service, Macy Chapel, 6521 W. 20th Street, Greeley, CO 80634, with a reception to follow in the Allnutt Reception Center.
