Linda Sue Myers, daughter of Marvin Schlageter and Patricia Cody, went home to be with Jesus on the morning of Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at the age of 69 years old. Linda is survived by her husband, Gary Myers from Greeley, Colorado. They were married for 41 years. Linda has three siblings: older brother Silver and sister-in law Debbie Medina of Kerrville, Texas; older sister Nickie Medina and brother-in law Ronn Groves of Greeley, Colorado; younger sister Cindy Westbrook and brother-in-law Bill Westbrook of Thornton, Colorado.
Linda is survived by two sons, Cale Myers and daughter-in-law Bethany Myers who live in Carson, Washington; and Nick Myers and daughter-in-law Lillee Myers who live in Phoenix, Arizona. Linda loved her four grandchildren: Malachi Myers, age 13, Saylor Beth Myers, age 11, Easton Myers age 10, and Travis Myers age 1. Linda had many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great great nephews and nieces. Linda also had many other loving family members and friends.
Linda graduated from Poudre High School in Fort Collins, Colorado, in 1973. Linda’s father was a Colorado State Patrol Major, and she followed him as a child around the state as a “CSP Brat.” She began as a Communications Officer with Colorado State Patrol in 1973. In 1980, she went to and graduated from the Colorado State Patrol Academy to become a trooper. Linda served as a Colorado State Patrol Trooper from 1980 through 1983. She was one of the first female officers on the patrol.
She was a valued member of the law enforcement community for her entire life. In addition to serving on the Colorado State Patrol, she also worked in various capacities for the Grand County Sherriff’s Department, Weld County Sheriff’s Department, and Weld County Probation Office. Linda also worked in various aspects of real estate including working for Century 21 and Chicago Title. While Linda had many roles, her most important contribution in life was caring for her husband and sons.
Linda was a devout Christian and attended several churches in the Greeley area including St. Paul’s Church, Bethel Baptist Church, and Greeley Wesleyan Church. She also worked hard to help send her two sons to Dayspring Christian Academy. She was a member of St. Paul’s Congregational Church.
Linda was well known for so many good things. Her family refers to her as a “master chef” as cooking and baking were her passion. She had dedicated her life to our Heavenly Father. However, her lasting legacy will be that she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother to her husband, children, and grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life for Linda will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Congregational Church, 1525 43rd Avenue, Greeley, Colorado 80634. She will be laid to rest at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, Colorado.
