Lela grew up near Leoti where her family farmed. She met Donald D. Moore and they were married on November 22, 1945 at her parent’s home in Leoti. After their marriage, they lived in Kansas where they farmed. They moved to La Junta, Colorado and bought an irrigated farm. They sold the farm and moved to Ault, Colorado where they bought the Prince Theater. The family moved to Greeley in 1955. They were members of First United Methodist Church, Greeley. Lela was a member of a women’s club where she enjoyed playing cards and making crafts with other women in Greeley.
Lela worked at the Fashion Bar for many years where she also did some modeling. Later she went to work for Weld County Assessor’s Office as a clerk and retired after 17 years. After retirement, Lela cared for two special children in her home, Andrew and William. She cared for them from when they were infants into their school years. She loved children especially her grandchildren. Lela loved to cook for her family. She loved trips to Las Vegas and Black Hawk and also enjoyed playing bingo. Donald and Lela enjoyed a trip to the Caribbean for their 50th Anniversary that they received from their children.
Lela is survived by her daughter Rhonda S. Cruz (Roland) of LaSalle; sons Terry R. Moore (Joy), Larry D. Moore (Diane) and Rick Moore (Kathy) all of Greeley; 14 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers Hubert, Kenneth and Lawrence.
