Larry spent most of his life in Chester, where he worked as a dryland wheat farmer south of town. Deeply rooted in his community, Larry’s life was marked by hard work, service, and a deep love for family and faith.
On September 8, 1962, Larry married Carolyn Peters. Together they raised their family with a strong work ethic and a heart for service.
Larry was an active and dedicated community member. He served as an elder at his local church, on the board of a local bank, and on the Montana State ASCS Board. He also served Liberty County as a county commissioner for four years. For many years, Larry was active in the Montana Republican Party and served as a campaign chairman for a U.S. Congressman. His involvement in politics led him to meet three sitting U.S. Presidents: Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush.
Larry’s passions included flying, reading - especially western novels, and spending time with his grandchildren. After years of wintering in warm places, he and Carolyn eventually moved full-time to Mesa, Arizona. In 2023, they relocated to Greeley, Colorado, to be closer to family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Anna, sister Joanna, and brothers George and Gene. Larry is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn; his children Bryan (Jaymi) Anderson of Greeley, CO and Stephanie (Tim) Tibbetts of Spokane, WA; and his much-loved grandchildren Anna, Brayden, and Evan Tibbetts, Brook (David) Sponaugle, and Carter Anderson.
Larry will be remembered for his faith, his commitment to service, and his love of family and community. His ashes will be scattered at a later date on the farmland he loved.
