Kurt grew up in Garden City, Kansas, where he graduated from high school. After graduation, Kurt moved to Denver with his family and later moved to Greeley. He met Denise Lehman and they were married on July 5, 1980 in Greeley. She died January 11, 2016.
Kurt worked as a heavy equipment operator for most of his life.
Kurt enjoyed golfing, fishing, gardening and keeping his lawn. He was a NASCAR fan and a die-hard Denver Broncos fan. He also was a fan of the Colorado Rockies. Kurt loved his dachshund, “Mickey”.
Kurt is survived by his daughter, Kim Gaunt (Dustin) of Greeley; sons, Kyle Hess and Kevin Hess (Kayli Parson) both of Greeley; sister, Priscilla McVey of Greeley; five grandchildren, Tyler Gaunt, Jayden Gaunt, Xander Hess, Landon Hess and Elena Hess; niece, Angie McVey and nephew, Mike McVey.
Visitation 12:00-1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2018 followed by Celebration of Life at 1:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home, 3205 West 28th Street, Greeley, Colorado.
