Jose “Joe” Roman Gaona, age 63, passed away on January 24, 2020 at his home. He was the husband to Rita Gaona. They shared 46 years together and have 12 children, 30 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Joe was born in Morehead, Minnesota. He was the son of Jose and Irene Gaona. He received his mechanical engineering certification at AIMS Community College in Greeley, Colorado. He owned his own business in Galeton, Colorado for 12 years, then went to work for Flogistix as a Field Tech for 7 years.
Joe was a loving, kind, thoughtful, respectful, forgiving, and funny kind of man. He always had to make us laugh - even if his jokes were bad, he still would tell it every time laughing, thinking it was so funny. Dad loved his kids and grandkids and did everything with them as a group; from grocery shopping to fishing, camping, traveling or just hanging out. He was also a big Dallas Cowboy fan. Every weekend when he wasn’t working he would take us all out for breakfast or make us breakfast at home. He loved listening to music, dancing, telling stories; he would even pick up the phone and call us to tell us a new story, even if we were at work. He told us family comes first, family helps family, but most of all family stands together, and he showed us just that.
You would find Dad (Grandpa Joe) at every basketball, football, softball, volleyball, and wrestling games cheering his kids and grandkids on. He would always be so proud and talk about each one and how they did so well.
He was the guy who would help everyone out and even if it was his last $10, if you needed the money it was yours, no matter who you were. He would laugh with you, listen to you, or give you advice. He made an impact on all of our hearts, and he will be greatly missed by all.
Joe is survived by his children; Darlene (Martin) Salazar, Denise Gutierrez, Trisha Gaona, Adolfo Gaona, Guadalupe (Erika) Gaona, Joey (Nina) Gaona, Joaquin Gaona, Richard (Brittany) Gaona, Gabriel (Tommie) Gaona, Delphino (Roxy) Gaona, Jacqueline (Nick) Gaona, and Ashley Gaona; his siblings; Joaquin Gaona, Richard (Sandra) Gaona, Adolfo (Carmen) Gaona, and Lupe Goana, as well as 30 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Jose Z. and Irene Gaona, and two grandsons; Jose "JoJo" Gaona, and Manny Salazar.
