He was born on December 13, 1953 in Greeley, CO. John graduated from University High School in 1973.
John had a 42-year career as an electrical engineer working for Xcel Energy (Home Light and Power). He also served as a volunteer firefighter for Western Hills Fire Protection District.
John was an influential member of the community. He was an active member of the Greeley Elks for many years. He volunteered his time to the Greeley Stampede as an electrician for 41 years—people at the Stampede knew him as “Sparky.”
John was truly a “jack-of-all trades,” or rather a “master of all trades”—there was rarely something he couldn’t fix or install. He did much of this work under the one-man company “Schulte Enterprises,” installing sprinkler systems and swimming pools, as well as plowing snow and many other projects. He also worked installing home health equipment with Chadwick Medical Supply.
John would help his family and friends with just about any project. He could fix anything from a broken car to a home repair, and beyond. His generosity knew no bounds—later in his life he made a point to deliver candy to the residents of Grace Pointe on a regular basis. He would never say no to someone in need—devoting both his time and resources as necessary.
He is survived by his partner, Beverly Burbank of Greeley; his three daughters—Beth Sasse, Nicole Cranford (Steve), Melissa Schulte, and their mother Cheri Schulte, of Greeley/Frederick; Beverly’s daughter Helen Burbank (Aaron) of Corvallis, Oregon; his brothers Fred Schulte (Sue) of Naples, Florida and Thom Schulte (Laurie) of Kingman, Arizona; ten grandchildren: Cloe, Alexander, Jordan, Ayden, Brayden, Jackson, Noah, Justin, Chandler, and Jacob, of Greeley/Frederick. He is preceded in death by his mother Betty Ehn (Clifford), and father Fred Schulte (Maxine).
Celebration of Life will take place at the Greeley Country Club at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, August 6. Memorial contributions can be made in care of Allnutt Funeral Services to benefit cancer research.
