He was born in March of 1926 in Fort Collins, CO. John enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 16 along with his identical twin, Sam. At the time that they entered the services they had two older siblings who were also serving in the armed forces. On January 12, 1945 John married Margaret Wiltein, the love of his life for 69 years. They lived as husband and wife in Corpus Christi, TX while John completed his term in the Navy. They returned to Colorado, initially in Evans, before eventually settling in Greeley.
John worked for Meadow Gold Dairy and was a truck driver, before landing a job at the University of Northern Colorado. He started as a janitor and retired as a Laboratory Technician for the Science Department. John also kept himself busy installing/repairing sprinkler systems, cleaning Cache National Bank, and maintaining golf carts at the various golf courses in Greeley. John retired in 1992 after 30 years working at the University. John was a very much loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His humor and ornery streak will be missed while his generous heart will be forever remembered.
John is survived by his children, Roberta, Thomas, Terry, and Theodore; grandchildren, David (Heather), Dirk, Michelle (Keith), Kasey, Angie (Chris), Damon (Jammie), John, Patrick, Jamie, and Tori (Jordan) as well as 18 great-grandchildren.
