James (Jim) Arthur Pinkerton, also known by his friends and care workers as “Pinky”, passed away on Wednesday morning, December 9, 2020. He was 92 years old and staying full-time at Sierra Vista Health Care Center in Loveland. Previous to that he had spent a short time at Park Regency Assisted Care Facility and was a former Windsor Resident.
He was born March 3, 1928 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the son of late Tom and Annie Pinkerton. His siblings include Martha, Viola, Roland, Alvin, Julius, Richard, Emma, Annella, and Tom Jr.
Jim graduated from Alma High School and moved to Burbank, California in 1948. His first marriage was to Ila Jean McGee. He later married Margaret Eileen Baker and they lived in California several years before relocating to Windsor, Colorado in 1994.
Jim worked for Photosonics of Hollywood, California as an assembler of high-speed cameras used by NASA. He carried a 190-bowling average and bowled a perfect game in 1969. Aside from bowling, Jim enjoyed golf, Arthur Murray dancing and spending time with his granddaughters eating ice-cream and playing games of Badminton during the summers in California. After Eileen passed, he filled his days playing pinochle, eating his favorite Oreo cookies and watching sports and game shows. Jim was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 11575. Jim’s last few years at Sierra Vista were spent wheelchair bound from a broken ankle, but he could always be spotted wearing a straw safari hat and a big smile. Pinky was known for his ready smile and his ability to easily make friends.
Jim is survived by a daughter, Kathy Stage of Texas, daughter-in-law, Sylvia Annis, granddaughters, Rose Hickman and Chelsey Crabtree all of Windsor and by many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren in Texas.
He was preceded in death by both of his wives and seven siblings.
Funeral arrangements are being provided by Allnutt Funeral Service, Greeley, Colorado. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 17, 2020 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at the Allnutt Macy Chapel with Rosary beginning at 4:00 pm. Burial will be next to Eileen at the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver at a private ceremony.
