Jake was very nice to me in school my freshman year when we had a ceramics class together. He was so funny and such a warm soul and I think of him frequently but on this day especially. He always had us laughing and made an otherwise unbearable class something I looked forward to. 

So much love to all those who knew him, my prayers are always with his family and him❤️

I had the wonderful privilege of having Jake as a 6th grader and as a freshman in my speech/drama classes while he was at University Schools. I remember him as a young man with integrity, maturity and always thoughtful of others. He did some fine work as an actor in his scene work in class and was a joy to watch. I would have loved to have had him in the play productions, but alas, his love for sports and football drew him to his true passion and talents. My heart has been broken with the news of his passing. Jake made a remarkable mark on the lives of those blessed to have known him. I know that God will keep you in His care during this devastating time and will help you find the joy of Jake's memory every day. May it always be a blessed one.

I remember freshman year of high school was my first year of football, and I didn’t have many friends at the school so I usually ate alone. One day I was eating alone as usual and Jake Bird invited me to come sit and eat with him, which meant a lot to me because we only really knew each other through football and he had no obligation to come sit with me. We ate lunch together and talked about football and life, and I’ll never forget it. Rest In Peace big man, you were an inspiration to everyone who had the privilege of meeting you.

There's a hole in my heart, and I'm at a loss for words. Jake has been a fixture in our lives since he and Asher became fast friends. I treasure that friendship and all the time and experiences they had together. I will always fondly remember the numerous hangouts, events, sleepovers, and time spent with Jake. He was always a joy to have around. He was a respectful, smart, funny, fine young man, and it was an honor to know him. I look forward to the day of eternal reunion, when we are all together again. But for now, I mourn and weep with you. 

Here's a photo from one of the numerous sleepovers. "The Boys" after playing outside for hours in the freezing cold. All piled into Asher's small room, playing games on networked computers, and yucking it up until the wee hours of the morning. These were good times.



All of us here at Work Out West give you our sincerest condolences. As a father I cant begin to imagine the heart ache you are all going through. Even as quiet a person that he was coming through our doors, you could see he was always happy to be here with his dad.

Jake, you were my best friend all throughout middle school and into Highschool. Even when you moved schools and our lives took separate ways we stayed close. Just last month you were at my graduation party talking about how fast time had gone. So much of my childhood was shared with you. We shared the same pains of our middle school classes, you went to DC with me, you suffered through chemistry with me. I’ll always remember you brother, God bless. 

Jake was always so kind. I am glad to have known him. Sending prayers to you and your  family.

Throughout the 7th and 8th grade football seasons I was one of the youngest and smaller players on the team. Jake would always make it clear to the bigger guys on the team to not mess with me. He always did a great job looking out for his own.

Jake was one of a kind. The memories we’ve had together will live on though our friend group. One of my fondest memories was when Jake was playing World at War on my birthday. We all went outside because we were messing around having Jake chase us around the back yard. My Dad came outside to tell us to keep it down, scaring Chaz thinking my Dad was Jake, we were all laughing because of the scream he let out. We will miss you Jake, love you.

I am so deeply saddened by the passing of your son. Prayers from my family to yours.

I have no words to say that could ever comfort you, My heart was broken as I read about Jakes passing.  He was a joy, Knowing the joys of being a parent to see a bright beautiful light shine as he did,  He often talked to Jeff about law and I was so excited to see a young man so interested in learning.  He always treated us with respect.  We are here if need you or anyone in your family needs anything.

Jake had the biggest heart. I wont ever forget how they all had so many amazing memories at the lake on the boat and the sleep overs.   I know he is tossing that football in heaven.  We love you all.

To the Bird family my most sincere condolences. I always enjoyed having Jake in my class, even when he was struggling just to come to school he was always someone to look forward to seeing. My eyes are very wet right now. 

There are just no words.  I’ve been in utter disbelief.  I just saw you & hugged you at your graduation party.  I’ll always remember your trip to see me (before Xmas one year) & I got you tickets to that “I Fly” where you skydive indoors.  You were so giddy afterwards…big smile on your face & going on & on again about how cool it was.  The whole being weightless.  That “smile” & “twinkle in your eye” from that & many other happy events…will always be how I think of you!  Love you dearly,  Aunt Tracy
