Jack Eugene Kramer, age 85, of Eaton, Colorado, passed away on June 16th, 2024 (Father’s Day) while at home surrounded by all of his children. Jack was born on July 4th, 1938 to Harry Ernest Kramer and Marjorie Laurella (Lookhart) Kramer in Holyoke Colorado. He was the oldest of seven children. Jack graduated from Wray High School in 1956 where he participated in football and wrestling.
Jack was raised on the family farm and this is where he developed his love for animals. This love for animals is why he pursued a career as an animal nutritionist. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado State University in 1960 and his Master’s Degree from Kansas State University in 1963. He was in the Army National Guard to help pay for his graduate degree.
In 1958 Jack met Beverley Jo-Ann Jensen and they wed in Fort Collins on September 12, 1959. They were blessed with five children. Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jack truly honored his wedding vows. He and Bev stuck together over 60 years for better or worse, for richer or poorer and in sickness and health. The last three years of Jack’s life were difficult without Bev but his children made sure he was never alone.
Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, rodeos, concerts, traveling and most of all time with family. Some of his favorite vacations were to Alaska, Branson, Niagara Falls, Yellowstone, Nashville, Glacier National Park and Massachusetts. He looked forward to attending the National Western Stock Show, Greeley Stampede and Cheyenne Frontier Days each year. Jack also enjoyed the yearly family ski weekend, Kramer Thanksgiving and the Kramer Family Reunion. His annual Fourth of July birthday party was always a blast!
Jack had a sixty year career as an animal nutritionist. He worked for several companies including Eli Lilly (Elanco) and Agland (Agfinity). Many area farmers and ranchers appreciated his professional expertise. He was also recognized nationally as a breeder of champion chinchillas for 20 years.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Beverley, his parents Harry and Marjorie Kramer, and his parents-in-law Elmer and Elizabeth Jensen. He was also preceded in death by his infant brother Floyd Kramer and brother Jerry Kramer.
