Irene Hirsch Riddle, 91, of Herriman, Utah, formerly of Greeley, died Tuesday at 9:20am on July 15, 2014 at The Brighton House in Riverton, Salt Lake City, Utah. Irene was born on February 16, 1923 in Isabel, South Dakota to Charles F. and Barbara Elizabeth (Fischer) Hirsch.
As a child, Irene lived in South Dakota and Colorado. She married Lenn Ellsworth Riddle on March 29, 1940 in Deadwood, South Dakota. Irene was a true partner to her husband and was by his side in work as well as in play. Together, they created a beautiful family and taught their children Christian values. Lenn preceeded her in death on July 5, 1965.
Irene, was a warm, compassionate, generous, and loving lady who always wanted to help others. There was nothing that she enjoyed more than cooking and helping her friends and family. Her specialties included German potato candy, kraut burgers, pepper rolls, home made noodles and bread, dumplings, plachinla, cream puffs, and so many other delicious foods. Often these foods were not only made from "scratch" but came directly from her farm or raised in her garden.
Irene is survived by two daughters, Betty Jean Chavez (Nicholas) of Breckenridge and Janet Joan Cooper, formerly in Boulder, CO son, Lenn Allen Riddle (Debora) of Herriman, Utah; a sister, Betty Cloud of Greeley; 11 grandchildren, more than eleven (11) great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry LeRoy Riddle, two daughters, Nancy Ann Riddle and Carrol Deane Redman, two (2) sisters: Pearl and Barbara and seven, (8) brothers: Irvin, Ruben, Elder, Edwin, Carl, Richard, Elmer, and "Baby Boy" Hirsch.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2014 followed by Funeral service at 1:00 p.m. both at Stoddard Funeral Home. Interment Sunset Memorial Gardens.
