She was born to parents George and Elizabeth Meisner from Grimm Russia. In 1912, they came to United States she was born in Worland Wyoming June 26, 1926.
She attended Windsor Schools most of her life in 1932 from 1st until 8th grade. In 1941 when the U.S went to war, she worked the farm and sugar beet fields. Irene would say she did lots of waitressing in various cafes early on and into WWII.
She married Robert J Drake in 1943, and had a son, Robert (Bob) J Andrews in 1944. Irene found her true love in Elmer Andrews, married in 1946, and opened a cafe in New Raymer, Co. They moved to Windsor Colorado in 1949 and purchased the Main Street Tavern. Further, Elmer started the TV&Radio repair shop and owned it for 13 years. Irene pursued her career in various roles working sugar beet fields, janitor at the Windsor elevator, selling Watkins brands,then worked for 10 years with Elmer at the American Legion. She retired in 2008 to her home in Windsor.
Irene's accomplishments was a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary 109 for 34 years with Presidency standing. She was a Life Member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and held Presidency chair from 85-87. Called to Cast in commercial by the chief of Windsor for 9-1-1 to promote the new emergency system in 1990. She also did cooking and catering with sister Molly for anniversaries and weddings for many years. You could often find Irene in dutch hops and polka dance with sister Molly. She enjoyed flower gardening, a clean house, above all she enjoyed family and friends company and her full life to age 95. She is the last of 3 brothers & 4 sisters.
She is survived by her children Bruce, Gordon, Peggy. 11 Grandchildren and army of great-grandchildren!!!
