Guadalupe R. García, 86, of Greeley, died June 28, 2013 surrounded by her family at Life Care Center of Greeley. She was born March 30, 1927 in San Lorenzo, New Mexico to Juan and Augustina (Chavez) Rubio. Guadalupe married Joe R. García in Littlefield, Texas in 1947. They moved to Greeley in 1958.
Guadalupe was a valued member of the L.A.A.M (Los Alegre Ancianos Mexicanos). She was very active in community service helping in schools, her church, and voting. Guadalupe was a great mother, grandmother, and a wonderful person. She found pleasure and purpose in canning, gardening, sewing, crocheting and reading. She was especially fond of her rose garden, she loved singing, was an avid reader, had a wonderful sense of humor, and a beautiful smile. She was a lovingly caring, good hearted person and will forever live in our hearts.
Guadalupe is survived by her daughters Lidia García Ryder (Floyd Jr.) of Greeley, Ema Rubio Ramos (Inacío) of Greeley, Cecilia Quanbeck (Daniel) of Salem, Oregon, Augustina Pollock (Doug) of Greeley, Guadalupe García (Bill) of Englewood, Colorado, Alicia García of Ft. Collins, Colorado, and Edna L. Mata (Joe) of Greeley; her sons Trinidad García (Mary) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Raymond García (Linda A.) of Greeley, Johnny García ( Teresa C.) of Greeley; step-children Carolina Rocha (Pedro) and Joe N. García (Modesta) all of Dallas, Texas; sister Antonia Muñoz of El Paso, Texas; brothers Alfredo Rubio of El Paso, Texas, Alonso Rubio (Sara) of El Paso, Texas; Gilberto Rubio (Alodía) of Casa Grande, Chihuahua, México; Lorenzo Rubio (Manuela) of Chihuahua, México; numerous Grandchildren, Step-grandchildren, Great-grandchildren, Great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe; a great-grandson Malakhai Anthony Jaramillo, a niece Celina Rubio, and a brother Juan Rubio.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, at Stoddard Funeral Home, followed by the Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 5, at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
