George L. Fell, III, 71 of Eaton, passed away at this home on December 31, 2018. George was born June 26, 1947 in Colorado Springs, CO to George Louis Fell, II and Naomi M. (Neelly) Fell. He married Marcia L. Akers on January 2, 1970 in Greeley. Marcia passed away in September of 2014.
George has live in the Greeley and Eaton areas nearly his entire life graduating from Greeley Central in 1966. He entered the Army in 1967 serving in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service.
Upon returning to Colorado, George attended UNC where he graduated with his Bachelor of Arts. Once he graduated, he began a career with Wood Brother’s Homes in Greeley before starting his own construction company. In 1984, George and his family moved to Monument where he was an insurance adjustor for State Farm.
In 1993, George and his family returned to the Greeley area and formed George Fell and Son Construction with his son CJ. Many high quality homes were built by George all over Northern Colorado with a reputation for quality workmanship and honesty.
George made the decision to step back from construction in 2012 to care of his ailing spouse Marcia who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis. After her death, he continued to do smaller construction related jobs for friends and associates while also spending time with his children and grandchildren until the time of his passing.
George also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, collecting antique tractors, woodworking and farming.
He is survived by his son, Christian J (Tanya) Fell; daughter Amanda J. (L. Shane) Smithey; sister, Carmen (Dwaine) VanPelt; sister-in-law Vicki (Paul) Zabrowski; grandchildren Colton, Samantha, Naomi and Lily Smithey; Gillian, Rex and Coy Fell; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at the Allnutt Macy Chapel with a reception to follow in the Allnutt Reception Center.
