He was married to Sally Fay for 48 years; she survives at the home.
George was a graduate of Joplin High School and Joplin Junior College (now MSSU). He also graduated from the University of Missouri (where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa), University of Michigan, and University of New Mexico. He was a proud band member at the University of Missouri and University of Michigan. He received three degrees, including a Ph.D. in Anthropology. He was a professor at Southern State University, Arkansas, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and the University of Northern Colorado, in Greeley.
He is survived by his wife, Sally; sons, David (wife, Sumalee), of Thailand, and Doug (wife, Young Sook), of Los Angeles, Calif.; brothers, Bob (wife, Susan), of Overland Park, Kan., Jack (wife, Mia), of Joplin, and Richard (wife, Rachelle), of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandchildren, Ying, of Seattle, Wash. and Andi, of Fort Collins, Colo.; great-granddaughter, Marina Taylor, of Seattle, Wash.; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to contribute to the Marina Taylor scholarship fund.
