Freida Jane “Duchie” Simpson, 94, of Greeley, CO, passed away October 12, 2018. She was born on November 26, 1923 in Center, KS to Fred and Mary Hill. Freida was one of eight children, all of who have preceded her in death.
Freida married Frederick “Fritz” Bauer and gave birth to two daughters, Sandra Lee and Nancy Kay. They later divorced, and in 1962, Freida married George Simpson in Ault, CO. During their 17 years of marriage Freida assisted in managing and operating the family owned bar.
Freida was a career person working in the restaurant business for many years prior to retiring. She was a very active person and an accomplished bowler, enjoying the many leagues she bowled on. Freida enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping and traveling in their camper. She was also a very social person who enjoyed entertaining, playing cards and just visiting with her many friends and relatives.
Freida is survived by her daughters, Sandra McCarty and husband John McCarty and Nancy Steele and husband Dwight Steele; grandchildren, Lori Veenendaal, Bryan McCarty, Jennifer Archuletta and Nichole Steele; and numerous nieces including Carol Burham, Beverly Watson, Sue Reinick, Patricia Printz, Judy Nero and Shirley Graff; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Celebration of Life will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2018 at Stoddard Funeral Home.
