He was born on December 10, 1973, to, his parents, the late Leroy and Rita Lujan. He attended Fort Morgan High School through his junior year at which point he transferred to Pueblo East, where he graduated from, in 1992. He worked for GL Roofing for many years earning various certificates and his license in electrical.
At an early age Fred had cultivated an obsession with all things wrestling. He was dedicated to wrestling in school and his love for the sport only grew from that point. Adding boxing and other techniques to his training he began his career in MMA, training with Top Notch fighters he was a force to be reckoned with and developed deep rooted friendships with everyone in that world.
Reading this you may think he was quick to choose his power over love, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. He had a unique sense of loyalty, a softness in his hug, the ability to light up the room with his booming laughter, and the instinct to protect those he called family. That list is long and begins with the love of his life, April Villa. Their names will forever be synonymous with one another as their love is unconditional. His true role in life, however, was being a father.
Countless trips to Kum & Go, movie nights, talking shop, sporting events, concerts, UFC watch parties on the weekends, and just simple meaningful conversations with his kids gave him a sense of “this is my purpose in life”. His voice exuded pride, his chest would puff up, his toothless smirk, and misty eyes when talking about his kids, grandkids, and their accomplishments was genuine and undeniable. Alyssa, Daveion, Kaylahni, Zach, Aubrey, Erik, Alyssa Gunn and her children, Karsyn, Gemma, and Holden held a soft spot in his heart. He loved them all, completely and without question.
His legacy will live eternally, not only through his family, but with everyone he called his brother and sister. He has forever redefined the words family, sister, brother, mijo, and mija. Removing the line that divides friends and family to create an environment where chosen family and blood are one in the same and the bond unbreakable.
In addition to April, his children, and grandchildren, he is survived by his sister, Stephanie Lujan, and brother-in-law, Ricardo Valles of Fort Morgan, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his beloved four-legged friends, Monty, Marty, Earl, and Ollie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Rita Lujan, sister, Libby Mueggenberg, and child, Zabian.
A celebration of life for Fred will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the Steely residence, 20759 HWY 392, Greeley, CO 80631. Details for a reception to follow are TBD.
