My name is Stacey, and I work for Gallegos Sanitation & I ALWAYS enjoyed my conversations with Ms. Florence.  They were never short but I never minded.  They would always begin with her saying ""Oh, Thank You So Much for taking my call. This is Ms Florence Motto..."" and I knew that there was about to be another Awesome  story to follow...no matter if I had already heard a few of them before.  :) She always called me ""dear"" and thanked me for taking care of her needs,  being so helpful & listening to her stories. 
     She loved to tell the story of how Joe & her had been with our company since the very beginning when Grandfather Gallegos had driven around their neighborhood in his pickup truck, handing out flyers offering to take people's trash for ""only $10 per month,"" and she would chuckle & say ""can you believe it was that cheap?""   
     She would love to tell of how when she came to Fort Collins and Dr Lesher had said she would be a good teacher, and she was a teacher for over 50 years, and she said that she believes teaching kept her young.  Another of her favorite stories was how she would take her daughter Bernadine as a baby to see Joe on the train as they would pass through the small towns in Wyoming while he was in the service.  
     She was ALWAYS the SWEETEST, KIND, UNDERSTANDING & GRATEFUL customer, and I felt like over the years she had become a friend, even though we had never met in person.  She always had wisdom to share of humanity, loving words about her husband, daughter & son in law who called her Florie & thoughtfulness for our drivers that treated her like GOLD.  She called it a ""special privilege"" that they treated her so well & when her cat Ginger passed away she would take the money she wasn't having to spend on her food & litter & give it to our drivers & the mailman for a tip.  
     Her last story to me was about some young gentlemen that lived behind her that had thrown  tree branches over her fence & she said that her daughter Bernadine had told her ""Mom, don't get so worked up about this, just call Gallegos & see if they can help you with this.""  She said she guesses there were bigger things in the world to worry about.  I feel we became her ""adopted family"" over the phone.  
     I will miss all of her calls and am SO GRATEFUL I was the one to answer many times when she had called in.  
     I want to express my sympathies to her daughter Bernadine & her husband and all of the MANY friends I am sure she had.  I wish I would have had the privilege to have actually met her in  person!  I'm sure she touched SO MANY lives throughout her years & I know, here at GSI she will be GREATLY MISSED & she DID touch MANY of our lives!!!

Mrs. Motto was my 2nd grade teacher at Washington Elementary.  I remember watching Reading Rainbow in her class and still have a Haiku poetry book that we made.  She was a wonderful teacher!  What I remember most is that when an emergency vehicle would pass by outside the window to our classroom, she would stop and pause for a moment and put her hand to her heart.  I am now 41 and this has stuck with me.  I think of her when an emergency vehicle passes.  She clearly was very sensitive and mindful of others!  I would like to offer my condolences.
