Florence M. Howie was born in McDonald, Kansas on April 10, 1930 to Ogle and Lenora Keenan. She passed away on July 5, 2020 in MeadowView Assisted Living at 90 years old. She grew up on the family farm in Kansas, and as the oldest of seven children, she helped her father with the farm duties, such as plowing fields, and harvesting grain. She vividly remembered the dust storms and hail storms. When she was 18, she moved to Denver and attended the Barnes School of Business, and worked for the Union Station. When she was 24, she married Bill Howie, and they made their home in Greeley, Colorado. Florence was a homemaker and raised one daughter. She attended the Church of Christ in Greeley. She loved reading and crafts, and traveling with her daughter. She was eager to keep up with modern technology, and used her iPad and SmartPhone every day to keep in touch with her family. In her own unique way, she was an inspiration to all of us. Bill, a WWII veteran, died in 2012. Florence is survived by her daughter, Deanne Chee and her husband Ken of Arvada, Colorado, and two grandsons, Alan Chee & his wife Lauren of Parker, Colorado, and Benjamin Chee and his wife Emma of Westminster, Colorado. She also has 4 surviving siblings, Joyce Murray, Bertie Rummel, Phyllis Scott, and Royce Keenan.
A private grave-side service is planned.
