I did everything possible to delay writing this notice of my mother, Evelyn Gaye Anderson
Morrison, passing. She was killed in a car accident driving home from taking her husband, Lee
Morrison, to his horse-therapy class in Fort Collins. This happened only a few months after the
tragic death of her son and my beautiful little brother, Justin Scott Anderson.
Those of you who knew Gaye can understand why I can barely write this notice. She was an
incredible being full of love and compassion for all living things. She treasured Mother Earth
and was always full of gratitude for her life. She taught my brother and I to be honest, fair, kind,
caring and to work hard, never to think anyone is better than anyone else.
She was smart and successful, raised two children by herself while achieving a master’s
degree in public health and serving as a director at the Weld County Health Department. She
contributed greatly to her community and always wanted to help people and animals.
I am happy that my mother suffers no longer. She was tired from the years of selfless care
giving and heartbroken over the unnecessary death of her son.
She leaves behind few, her twin sister Kay Anderson, grandson Luca Anderson Cero, brother
Robert Harrison, nephews Josh Anderson and Bobby Harrison, husband Lee Morrison, Amy
Morrison, Sweetpea the chicken, her kitty babies and myself. May she rest in peace and have
all the fun and freedom she so deserves. I know many will miss her. She was such a special
person and gift to this world.
The only solace I have is that she is where she wants to be now, with the Creator.
Donations in her name can be made to the Greeley Humane Society.
A service will be held this summer for her.
