Eric Shaun Hatch, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and friends on March 6th, 2024. Born on May 12th, 1974, the same year one of Eric’s favorite country music artists, Chris LeDoux released a song titled “Mighty Lucky Man” - a great way to describe the life Eric lived.
A big reason Eric’s life was fulfilled can be attributed to the memories shared with his loving wife, Laurie Hatch and their four-legged children Toby, Harley, and Dakota in Greeley, Colorado. Eric and Laurie enjoyed riding their Harleys, going to sporting events, and traveling. Many memories Eric and Laurie shared were made visiting dear family friends Ben and Tina Myers with their five kids in Hawaii as well as cheering on Eric’s beloved Nebraska Corn Huskers football team. Eric’s brothers-from-another-mother, Chris Goldsberry and Chris Sallee, will cherish the countless motorcycle rides across the great plains and mountains – giving meaning to “life is a highway”.
People will forever treasure the sincere and loyal bonds they had with Eric. The connections he had made a lasting impact on his community - many willing to give their shirt off their back for him because they knew Eric would have done the same for them. Eric was the resident “Mr. Fix-It” for the family, he was always willing and able to share his vast knowledge to help with do-it-yourself projects. It was never hard to know what to get Eric as a gift, as tools were considered toys.
Eric loved doing woodworking projects, CAD drawings, worked as a cabinet maker, an Instructor for Harley Davidson for those that wanted to enjoy in one of his passions, and as an auto glass installer. He loved being a part of the Harley Owners Group and the time he spent volunteering with the Stampede Wranglers.
Eric leaves behind his wife Laurie, sisters Vicky Turner (Rich) and Sandy Marcellus (Mark), 6 nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law Michael (Kim) and Mark Schwartz as well as many friends he considered family. He will be forever missed and always remembered.
In the words of Chris LeDoux, Eric proved to be “Tougher Than the Rest”. He was under the best care provided by Fresenius Kidney Care North Greeley, Fresenius Kidney Care Northern Colorado Home Program, and many other medical teams of doctors and nurses who truly cared for Eric’s wellbeing. In lieu of flowers and to honor the great care Eric received, contributions can be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
Eric’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Allnutt Funeral Home located at 6521 W 20th Street in Greeley, Colorado on March 22nd. The memorial will begin at 5pm MT followed by a taco bar catered by Alberto’s Express. The only black you should plan to wear is if it is associated to Harley or Nebraska Blackshirts.
In the words of Chris Ledoux and lived by Eric –
"Sit tall in the saddle, Hold your head up high
Keep your eyes fixed where the trail meets the sky
And live like you ain't afraid to die
And don't be scared, just enjoy your ride”
