She was born on November 13, 1929 in Platteville, CO to John Sr. and Mary (Reidel) Schmidt. She grew up and lived in Weld and Larimer counties all her life.
Elsie married Donald D. Pfeif on December 2, 1951 in Loveland, CO. They farmed in the Windsor-Fort Collins area until 1970 when they moved to Loveland. Elsie worked for Albertson’s for 19 ½ years before retiring in 1989. She enjoyed crocheting, crafting, and loved her garden and flowers.
On July 21, 1993 her husband Donald passed away. On February 14, 1999 she married Victor Schwartz and moved to Greeley until his passing on August 29, 2008. She then moved to Windsor to be near her son Gene and his family. She enjoyed living at Governor’s Farm and made many friends there. In August of 2019, due to Else’s failing health, she moved to North Shores Health and Rehab Center in Loveland, CO.
Elsie was preceded in death by her Husband Donald, her parents, her sister Bertha (Blehm), her sister Kathryn (Bruntz), and her second husband Victor.
Elsie is survived by one sibling, her brother John Schimdt Jr. (Louise)of LaSalle, CO; her sons: Gene (Carol Ann) Pfeif, and Gerald Pfeif; her grandchildren: Kryste (Ken) Haas, Becky (Rob) Winter, Courtney (Nick) Diller, Chad (Kyla) Pfeif, Giari Pfeif; her great grandchildren: Kelcey McNamee, Kolton and Kody Haas, Rachel and Lori Winter, Kadence and Kaylee Diller, Emma and Talia Pfeif; her 5 great great grandsons: Levi, Gannon, Karson, and Rhett Haas and Crew McNamee. She was delighted to find out that her first great great granddaughter, Madison, will arrive in May.
Elsie will be greatly missed by her entire family and the staff and friends she made at North Shores Health and rehab in Loveland.
