Elsie Mae Kerbs went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 2, 2010. She was born to Henry W. and Rosie Croissant on December 6, 1931. After attending public schools in Johnstown and Gill, Elsie married John Kerbs in April of 1949 in Greeley, Colorado. Her lifetime career was one of helper and mate. She mothered 3 children and was a constant companion and helpmate to her husband, John for 56 years. Her interests and hobbies were many – cooking, sewing, drawing, crafts of all kinds and playing the piano. The greatest delight of her life was the grandchildren that surrounded her both while living on the farm and later in retirement.
She was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Congregational Church and after retiring back to the Greeley area, found great joy in serving with the ladies of the church.
She is survived by her 3 children, Kathy Carter (Terry) of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, David Kerbs (Sue) of Greeley, Chris Kerbs (Judy) of Yuma; A younger brother, Allen Croissant of Longmont; two sisters-in-law, Daisy Croissant of Greeley and Mary Ann Croissant of Arvada; 8 grandchildren, Sheila Bowman (Tempy), Eric Kerbs (Sarah), Ted Kerbs (Carrie), Chris Carter, Brandon Carter (Lisa), T Jay Carter (Nadine), Becci Riley (Doyle) and Mike Pagel; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews cherish her memory as well; a lifelong friend, Lillian Schaefer was always there, through the good times and the hard times. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John in 2005; sisters Martha Wiest, Bertha Kauffman, and Gladys Sitzman; brothers, Elmer Croissant, Herbert Croissant, and Milton Croissant.
A time of celebrating her life as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend will be held, Saturday, November 6, 10:30 a.m. St. Paul’s Congregational Church with interment following at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited back to the church for a time of food and fellowship.
